Golden Roundtrip to Mt. Pilatus (2128m/6982ft)

From May to October experience the assorted delights of Lucerne's landmark mountain Mt. Pilatus. The Golden Round Trip, a half-day or whole-day excursion involving a boat trip, the cog railway, and the panoramic gondola. Travelers may take this tour in either direction depending on personal preference of taking the cogwheel train up or down the mountain. Visitors can look forward to a spectacular ride on the world's steepest cogwheel train with truly magnificent views at the summit.

Travelers preferring to take the cogwheel train "up" will take a boat trip on Lake Lucerne from Lucerne to Alpnachstad. A short walk from the boat pier will take you to the cogwheel train station. Enjoy the stunning views on Mt. Pilatus for as long as you wish. On your return take the cable car from the peak down to Kriens. Follow the signs to the bus station and board bus #1 for the short ride back to Lucerne. Travelers prefering to take the cogwheel train "down" Mt. Pilatus will start this journey at the Lucerne train station and take bus #1 to Kriens. Upon arrival in Kriens a short walk the short distance to the base of the cable car (which you see from afar). The return will be via cogwheel train to Alpnachstad and boat ride back to Lucerne.
