Ticino Wine Country
The Canton of Ticino is famous for its Merlot grapes. There are two main growing areas: North of Lugano in the hills around Bellinzona, and South of Lugano in the hills East of Mendrisio. Bellinzona is home to 3 beautiful fortresses which are a UNESCO world heritage site. Visitors are able see them when changing trains in Bellinzona.
